![]() The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 somehow alleviated most of the aforementioned issues, making it the better evil of the two. While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 is a powerhouse, it was never a successful chip when you factor in power efficiency and heat output. Less Heat OutputĪnother major upgrade of the Z Flip4 is the SoC. ![]() While this may not be my final verdict for the camera, do stay tuned for my review of the Z Flip4 after spending more time with it. That said, what customers care about is a positive user experience. It is a tough comparison since the Z Flip4 has a different lens, sensor, IPU and software version. While the difference is not that obvious, I can tell that the camera is more “responsive”, especially in low light situations. At the same time, the sensor is slightly bigger at 1/1.76″ as opposed to the Z Flip3’s 1/2.55″. The lens is slightly wider at 24mm instead of 27mm. While the camera module might look similar to the Z Flip3, the primary shooter has received a silent upgrade. Of course, a device with a foldable display is still not for everyone, nevertheless, I believe device durability shouldn’t be the main concern for those who are on the edge of leaping. Samsung’s hardware team has done a tremendous job at improving the device’s durability. Then again, most of the users are going to use a case anyway. While the changes are minor, they all reflect on the outcome and how we feel while handling the device. I like the flat frame chassis design since it is much easier to hold no matter if the phone is in folded or unfolded state. If you value practicality over form, you will appreciate the refined Z Flip4 construction over the outgoing Z Flip3. However, having a brand-new device that looks almost exactly like its predecessor is not an easy pill for consumers to swallow. Rehashing the same chassis is fantastic for the team to focus on enhancing the hardware and software instead of worrying about integration. It is a double-edged decision from Samsung. I’m sure many have pointed out how Samsung has kept the same outlook for the second year. I'm Kent German, and this is the Samsung Impression.Let’s start with the design. Really prefer to have a 3.5 millimeter headset jack. One on the camera lens, and then on top there is a proprietary headset jack. The physical controls down here are talk end buttons and a clear button. It is the highest-end messaging phone that Samsung introduced here. So, mid-range multi-media features, but really this phone is about that messaging. Phone is chock full of multi-media options. This will help you tap out those e-mails quick without doing a predictive text. Had a bunch of shortcut controls as well. I can get in there and type pretty quickly. We have seen phones where there's dedicated number keys, which I kind of like a little better, but this is fine. It does have the number keys do double as some of the letter keys. ![]() Pretty spacious, which is, which I liked. ![]() We'll tip the phone on its side, and we'll slide it right up. The only bad thing is that Samsung gives you a set amount so you have to choose from that, but you can customize within that set amount. You can go in and you can add widgets, and widgets are shortcuts that'll take you direct to applications. It does have Samsung Touch Wiz interface, and so what that is it has a moveable bar on the side. It just makes things a little too cramped for getting around there. The thing about touch screens is you really don't want them any smaller than three inches. I'll show you the slider in a second, but it does have a big touch screen that's pretty expansive. It's not a smartphone so it doesn't have Windows Mobile or a third-party operating system, but Samsung introduced a lot of messaging phones here, and what we mean by that is a phone that has a QWERTY keyboard or for a full-alphabetic keyboard that's really designed for messaging, e-mail, and just tapping out those messages faster. It was announced a couple of days before the show began, but this is my first chance to see it. I want to show you the Samsung Impression. ![]()
